I feel a little better now.

I was reading an original yaoi (male/male)webcomic for a while and I wondered why I was missing chapters in my altert updates. It turned out that the reason behind it was because I had my "shota" filter on (for those that don't know, "shota" is a nice way of saying "child molestation". An older character fucking a child). I didn't even look through the missed chapters but I did comment to the author on her main page that it was a shame that she put child molestation in. I really did like the series until then, even though I never even glanced at her shota garbage.

Me: "I liked your comic until you started pushing child porn. It's a shame. "

Her: "LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

And that's why you have filters. Good luck on being an ass :3

Edit: also, I'm drawing this comic for me, because I like drawing it. You actually though I'm doing this to try to please you? yes, it's indeed a shame that though ever crossed your mind.

The rest of it was just a pissing match and it got both of us suspended from the site for a week. Funny thing was, I avoided looking over the comments pertaining to it on my personal page on that site because I was kind of embarrassed for losing it like that and figured I should have just kept my mouth shut. I just now looked over some of those past comments and now I don't feel so bad.

Person 3.)"I'm with her because I don't like child porn and shota disturbs me to no fucking end, but I can see why she got suspended. this site is civil enough exactly because the mods are very strict about being respectful to each other, and even if the artist was *very* rude to her, she lost it and the suspension is a result. unfortunately shota is not against the rules and there is a specific filter for it, so, well, OfflineVilani is right, she should have just filtered it. flaming and creating drama is not allowed on y!g, thanks to god. this is not Lj nor DA. I like this place for this too.

I won't go on and on but I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people who supported me for simply stating that child porn is disturbing. This is a very loose site and I expected all kinds of "freedom of expression" comments, despite the fact that in this case, such freedom involved sexualizing children. I did get a few comments about my choice to block such content, which does indeed exist on the site. I did have shota blocked and the artist in question properly tagged her sick shit, but she did not warn readers in the beginning that there would later be child porn. Therin lies my beef. I don't install crossdressing in a vanilla story without first warning readers that it could come to that. When intending to insert objectionable material into ANY multi-chapter fiction, it's important to remember your audience and warn accordingly.

You might not center your story on crossdressing, homosexual relationships or bloodplay but if you intend to include them later--when it's not essential to the plot--forewarning is important. Don't get people hooked and then use their interest in your story to push a fetish...especially one so controversial as "shota" or (let's be fucking honest here) child porn.
